2025 Plans

Post by UBT - Timbo »

Hi all

There are still 3½ months to go until the end of the 2024 season, so this topic is to start clarifying how the 2025 season will take shape.

1) It needs to be decided whether FB is a suitable range of Challenges that can continue supporting BOINC projects and how best to generate more interest and participation in both the FB Marathon and FB Sprints

2) A decision will then need to be made about who should be the Admin for the FB Forum, for the FB Sprints and the general administration. I will stand for election in this role, but others might wish to take over. And, of course, Sebastien will need to approve this.

3) A decision will need to be made about whether to continue with the 3 different Leagues for both Teams and Members. Currently, there is good support for the Team Leagues but I am disappointed with the number of members who signed up to take part, who are actually "active" during the Sprints.

4) If the League structure is retained, then once the 2024 Season is over, the plan is for there to be another round of Promotions and Demotions from both the Team and Member Leagues, based on the 2024 performances of all participants and rewarding those who have made a good effort and maybe deleting members (from the stats) who have made ZERO effort.

5) A decision will need to be made as to which projects will be featured in the Marathon and which of these will feature in the Sprints.

6) I think it is reasonable to require that Teams and Members participate in a minimum number of Sprints each year. After all, what is the point of registering a Team or an Individual (for an FB SPrint) and to then not take part? Maybe the minimum should be say 12? Or perhaps even 15 or even 18? There are (currently) 24 FB Sprints this year and there will be 24 F1 races in 2025 (and therefore 24 FB Sprints) so, is it reasonable to expect participation in at least 50% of the Sprints, or even 75% ?

I might think of other issues which I will include when I think of them!

Until then, this topic is LOCKED but it will be re-opened for forum member comments in due course.

regards
Tim
