Hi all
The selected project for Sprint #8 is The Ramanujan Machine.
Hope you have lots of spare capacity to crunch lots of tasks for this project over the next few days.
Best of luck to all taking part.
regards
Tim

Aren't stats updated once an hour on the hour? If yes, how come there have been points awarded but the sprint is less than an hour old?

Re: Sprints 2024 - timetable and projects selected
Hiya
As far as I am aware, ALL the various stats *should* be collected on the hour (or thereabouts), maybe a few minutes before and sometimes a few minutes after) and some project stats might not be available straight away and might even be out of date so the back-office stats collection process has to re-try until it is successful.
Likewise some projects might not make their stats available "on the hour" and this can cause some slippage...so project stats might not be available bang on the hour, and so the stats collection doesn't happen "on time" and when it does there might be some credits counted which were awarded after the last update.
So, in general, one needs to allow a small degree of common sense in terms of when all these stats are a) collected and b) when they are available to be displayed on the FB website as it is very dependent on *everything* happening at the same time - and of course every project might not update their stats diligently and on time EVERY hour/day/week...
And besides which, the very small number of credits shown just after 5pm UTC (which I saw !!) are not going to make much difference to the final standings after 3 days.
PS: Of course some FB members might (unknowingly), be crunching the chosen project in advance of it being announced, as not everyone switches over to the Sprint project at the official starting time, especially if it happens that the chosen project is one of their regular favourites to crunch anyway.

There should be credits posted just AFTER 17:00 UTC (first stats run). but not at 16:44 UTC

Re: Sprints 2024 - timetable and projects selected
Hi
Sadly, I was not watching the FB website at 16:44 UTC so I did not see any stats posted BEFORE 17:00.
But I DID check the website AT 17:00 to ensure that the project was officially announced and it should have been only AFTER the announcement that *any* stats would have been displayed.
And my gut feel is that some early credits were displayed from members who were already crunching tasks on this project BEFORE the announcement. And as I said before the early stats shown were of the orders of tens of credits, with a few maybe in the range 100-200.
And as of just past 11pm UTC, after 7 hours of crunching, the stats for members range from 7 (the lowest amount) up to 41,168 (the highest).
So, if one is pedantic, one could argue that something is wrong with the stats...but in real terms, a few credits here or there is insignificant compared to the number of credits that will be earned over the course of the 3 day Sprint.

The sprint stats have been getting updates about every 15 minutes since the new site went live, I think

I've observed that with team stats, the individual stats appear to be less reliable with some projects and I'm sure I've seen partial updates of the individual stats where only some participants have been updated but the others catch up again at a later update.scole of TSBT wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2024 2:03 pm The sprint stats have been getting updates about every 15 minutes since the new site went live, I think

Yeah, I meant team stats. Individual stats are a heavier pull so they might not be updated every 15 minutes

HI allUBT - Timbo wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 10:01 pm Hi all
Despite messages being sent to 2 different project admins over the last 5 days, neither has actually replied to me with confirmation that their project can cope with our members needs for tasks during the period 23rd-26th May.
.
.
As for this other project - let's just say that they have had their chance and they've blown it and their project will not be selected again this year. (And no, I will not divulge which project it is... !!).
One of the admins, from the project originally chosen for Sprint #8, actually messaged me last night (30th May at 9:20pm) with a response and an apology, to the PM I sent them on their project website well over a week ago, advising them that their project had been selected for the 8th Sprint.
So, it was nice of them to do this, but I expected a quicker reply

Hi all
I have made contact with the Project Admin at the specially selected project for Sprint #9.
Every league has the same project during each sprint, no matter which League each Team is in.
I await confirmation that their server will be able to cope with the expected high number of task downloads once the Sprint starts.
