Hi

Thanks for the report.

There are multiple reasons why a website certificate might fail to be recognised. Issues with the date/time of the computer viewing the website is one part. Another is the browser itself and whether it has been recently updated (either as a program or with the correct officially supported security certificates updated and installed). The same with the supplier of the certificate and if their servers are fully operational, as well as the hosting company for both FB and for the security website.

The other thing is that PC's sometimes get "stale" certificates, as the viewers PC might not have been shutdown/rebooted recently and so some security certificates have not been updated correctly.

In my case on two different network connections, in two different locations, with different PC's neither has had any issues with the FB security certificates.

Hi all,

The final "official" Sprint of 2024 will start soon and the final project has been randomly selected and this starts on Thursday 5th December at 14:00 UTC.

And just a reminder that the PrimeGrid "Challenge for Willy" starts on 10th December at 18:15 UTC and will last for 10 days, on the GFN-21 sub-project.

Note: That this sub-project is pretty stressful on GPU's and the tasks are NOT short by any means.

And I would kindly request that you do NOT bunker any tasks in advance, as not only will it give you an unfair advantage, but (IMHO) it is also quite disrespectful to Willy, to be crunching before the official start time.

Hi Tim,

thanks for the detailed response. It makes me believe even more that it's all the part of a game and we should go on having fun of it )

We're going to see 'jumpstarters' after a first stat update ;)

Hi

Actually, that ISN'T going to happen as Sebastien has a cunning plan(**) to ensure that only BOINC tasks downloaded AFTER the start of the Sprint will be credited on the FB League tables.

(**) that he is currently testing and which hopefully will limit any bunkering effects :-)

Interesting to see how / if that could even work, as a user's task details are normally not exported as part of stats - and can be hidden by a user not exposing their computer details? :?

Hi

From what Sebastien has suggested, it might take a bit of clever coding, but it should work - I await to see the results of his test to see if he has been successful :-)
