Actually this wasn't well represented by Michael. People left their team on how discussions around and decisions about FB happened; could have been any other topic than FB as well. Electricity bills might be a reason to stop boincing, dysfunctional FB is not...
easily control CPU or GPU resources to be split between various projects by allocating a percentage of CPUs towards specific projects (so say allowing on a 16 core machine for 6 cores to be used with one project, and 8 on another project),
you can use app_config https://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Client_configuration (with the use of <project_max_concurrent>x for delimiting number of threads dedicated to a single project and <ngpus>0.x for delimiting the GPU use)
or you can use multiple clients on the same host with the use of boincmgr.exe
