can you point me to the official rules for Season 2024 ?

Thanks in advance
Yeti
Hi

The rules for 2024 are pretty much the same as those rules that have been used for some time, but with some changes that have been introduced over the last couple of years.

Check this for some basic information

viewtopic.php?p=3555#p3555

It might be easier if you can advise which specific area you want clarification about?

Hiya

I think Sebastien should be credited mostly for his time and effort to recode the website so that we could actually start the first Sprint on the same day as the first F1 race ! His was an awesome effort which I hope everyone recognises.

As for Sprint #1 - it seemed that everything worked out OK - apart from the first couple of hours, when the stats were not collated properly - sadly, i could not monitor the Sprint process on Saturday until this morning as I was away at a previously arranged charity meeting which I had to attend.

Hopefully no one has seen any issues, but if they have, please let me know !

Tim,

I have watched the last sprint on daily basis and on day 1 and day 2 I saw my account on Place 1 in Users-L1. Now finally I'm in place 2 and with the described rules (day1 points plus day 2 points olus day 3 points) this couldn't be.

(25 +25 + 18 = 68) / 3 = 22,66 points
or
(25/3=8,3) plus (25/3=8,3) plus (18/3 = 6) = 22,6 points

(18 +18 + 25 = 61) / 3 = 20,33 points

So, how can I be place 2 at the finished race ?

Where can we see the daily-stats like in last year ?

Hi

Your calculations are pretty much perfect although for last year, the total FB points were actually rounded UP, so 22.6 FB points last year would be 23 FB points THIS year. 8-)

I will ask Sebastien what has happened to the daily stats - as I had assumed that the same method would be used this year - but the website has been re-coded and so it might be that Sebastien has reverted to the original scoring method of awarded FB points based on the total BOINC credits, earned over the 3 days

Obviously this is the FIRST Sprint using the new stats coding, so it might have been changed without my knowledge. And we do have to assume that the new coding version is still a "work in progress" and a few bugs might remain.

The FB website has an "Archive" section, linked from the homepage, for previous years stats - a direct link is here:

Tim,

first: You misunderstood me, shure can I find the stats from last year in the archieve. But I'm missing the Sprint-Day1 / Sprint-Day2 / Sprint-Day3 stats from the first sprint in 2024.

second: It would be good to know concrete informations before the next sprint starts. It has important tactically influences.

Third: Your idea to use different Projects for different LIGAs: My colleague and I are in L1 as users, but L3 with our team. It is absurd to force us to decide between team- und userranking.

Sorry ...

Hi

AS I mentioned, I have reported this to Sebastien and I am waiting for him to respond and to confirm if the Daily stats function is going to continue for 2024 or has reverted to FB points being awarded just based on the total at the end.

The plan put forward last year was to see if it was possible to have different Sprint projects for each League in 2024.

This has NOT happened (for technical reasons) and so the SAME project is being chosen for EVERY League. So, there is no need to choose and so your worries are zero, as there is no choice that needs to be made.

So, all you need to do is to focus your Team and Individual efforts on ONE project per Sprint.

The plan for both the initial Team and Member Leagues for the start of 2024 was purely based on the performance of said Teams and Members by the end of 2023 - so that similar results from different Teams and Members were all consolidated into one of 3 Leagues, with higher BOINC credit scores in League 1 and then those teams and Members with fewer BOINC credits were installed into League 2 and League 3.~

Any Team or Member with NO HISTORY in FB 2023 season (and this includes NEW Teams and Members who register for 2024), is placed into League 3 and then a promotion/demotion process will take place which will see higher achieving Teams/Members being promoted to higher Leagues and the lower earning Teams/Members will be demoted.

This will then make for a more interesting next phase as equally ranked Teams and Members will be competing with each other.

Individual user ranking has little interest : so few crunchers are aware / did want to make the effort of individual inscription, it's not very "representative" IMHO, whereas team raking is more representative when your team is registered and willing to participating, by motivating the troops on forums / mailings you can get an actual number of people belonging to that team (some of them not even aware of individual ranking / registering) that will participate to a common effort, and make that sprint ranking more relevant.
second: It would be good to know concrete informations before the next sprint starts. It has important tactically influences.
The reason not to do this is precisely to avoid "tactics" = bunkering, so it's an official policy why sprints are announced only when they start.

Hi

I would say that interest in the Individual Member Leagues is increasing as there are already 18 NEW members who have joined in the Member Laegue, which is on top of the 70+ members who registered last year.

However, I accept that some of last years Members do not seem to have earned ANY significant BOINC credits...but that could be due to many reasons.

The Members League idea was to just copy the F1 Drivers Championship and to have a bit of fun allowing Members to compete with each other on an individual basis. And if I can arrange it, I want to be able to award PRIZES for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placings in the Members Leagues...but there are logistical issues with this, in terms of sending physical prizes to Members spread around the planet - so maybe a digital prize can be awarded?

Sorry, but why should one take a part in a race, that's rules are not known even by the promoter Tim ?

For a competition you should know the rules before the competition starts and as I have shown upside the first sprint has not been calculated as the official-rules (postet by Tim) say.

So, yes, I want to know the sprint-rules for 2024 before the next sprint starts ! And I think, everybody should know the correct rules.

Hi

I thought you take part in the FB Challenges, because you like some competition and you want to help the projects?

As I already said to you: I have asked Sebastien as to why a change has been made to the daily stats being displayed.

I am awaiting an answer on this. So you need to be patient until I find out - as you must remember that Sebastien has to work and so do I...I am not here 24/7, I do not get paid for doing this and nor does Sebastien. So, be patient and we can resolve this question you have asked.
