Hi all
Sebastien has been updating the back-office functionality of the FB website and I thought I would share some information with you.
1) If all goes well with the current updating of the FB website, I am hoping that the FB Sprint season should be starting at the end of February, in parallel with the opening race of the new F1 season - so from 28th February - 2nd March.
2) It is also to be hoped that a Test Sprint might be run in advance of this, which will be used to check that everything is working BEFORE the first official Sprint.
3) ALL currently registered teams and members have been transferred over to the new season and new teams and members will be incorporated into the new Leagues on a case by case basis.
4) I am hopeful that there will be 3 Leagues of teams competing this year, and the assignment of teams into each League has been based on last years final Team placings.
Note: All the above is subject to change without notice, and depends on when Sebastien can finalise the changes needed for this years Marathon and Sprints.
I will provide more news once Sebastien is happy that the coding is moving on from Beta to Alpha status !
regards
Tim

Hiya
YES !! It is very good news...and I have already seen the new updated website (currently offline, so you will have to be patient to see it) and it is looking rather splendid !
So, I really hope this can be a good re-launch for FB and we can get more teams and more members involved in taking part.

Thanks for the message.
I am very hopeful that I can be a good custodian for FB and that I can find ways to increase the support for it and build it back up again.
And I am very grateful to Sebastien for allowing me to use my experience to help keep Formula BOINC alive.

Re: Sprints for 2024
Hi all
In about 24 hours, the Test Sprint project will be announced here at 00:01 UTC on 22nd Feb:
https://formula-boinc.org/sprints.py?ra ... sprintid=2
The Test Sprint will start at 00:01 UTC on 23rd Feb and will last for 48 hours until 23:59 UTC on 25th Feb.
The Test Sprint RESULTS and FB POINTS will be zeroed at the end of the Sprint, and any faults will be remedied (although this is not expected to happen). Of course any BOINC credits you earn will be valid and retained.
So, if you can spare 48 hours to help us to ensure that all the relevant coding has been updated, then this will be greatly appreciated.
regards
Tim

Re: Sprints for 2024
I suggest you do the test sprint on primegrid since many of us are currently involved on the Tour de Primes 2024 - and it will be an extra-boost on a project that can handle it !
Re: Sprints for 2024
Tim,
when you start the real SprintSeason 2024:
It is unfair if the majority of sprint start times are at 00:00 UTC / 01:00 UTC. For us here in Europe / Germany always in the middle of the night.
It would be much fairer if every sprint starts at a different time every hour, and we should be able to cope with 24 different start times, shouldn't we?
Please think about this

Thanks for the feedback.
The Test Sprint is just taking place between 00:01 and 23:59 so that two full calendar days can be used.
For 2024, I was hoping to follow the same guidelines as has been used in previous years so the forthcoming Sprint season will be respecting the times when the actual F1 races will be taking place.
The majority of F1 races take place in Europe, so you can expect that the Sprints will start and end in the mid/late afternoon, while for the races in America (3x US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil) and Asia (Australia, Japan, China), the Sprint times will be shifted to the relative timezones where the F1 races are being held.
