Gridcoin no longer in Marathon or Sprint 2021

Hi all

One of the discussion issues that the Sprint committee was looking into was the validity of retaining team Gridcoin in the 2021 Marathon and Sprint league tables.

It was unanimously agreed that FB could be a better, more competitive challenge if it was not included, especially as hardly anyone from GRC takes any notice of FB, has any day to day involvement with FB or promotes FB within their team. This proposal was put to Sebastien who agreed.

As of today, Gridcoin is now longer part of either the Marathon or the Sprints and Marathon League 1 FB points have been recalculated.

The hope is that there will be more competition between the remaining teams (in League One) as it is not now an "automatic" 25 points for GRC.

We hope this will put to rest the comments made about GRC's involvement and we look forwards to more teams competing throughout the year.

I am grateful for this decision. Competition in science-based number crunching is too easily tainted by the lure of profit.

I don't agree with this, whilst it does appear the formulaboinc link was erroneously removed from the gridcoin.us site (was on there back in 2017 under the community heading https://github.com/grctest/Gridcoin-Sit ... er.erb#L51), Gridcoin has repeatedly promoted FormulaBoinc at key BOINC workshops in the recent past:

IMO it'd have been more sportsmanlike to create an additional league rather than completely eject Gridcoin, especially considering all BOINC users are now fully eligible for GRC rewards not solely team Gridcoin.

Hopefully next season Gridcoin's position can be reconsidered, good luck to all who made the cut
