For the forthcoming Marathon, starting at 01/01/25 and ending on 31/12/25, the same projects have been carried over.

If anyone has any recommendations as regards to NEW projects (such as: Gaia@home or LODA) that should be included, then please let me know - and I will investigate if they have the server hardware, work unit availability *AND* internet bandwidth to support lots of download requests and completed work unit uploads.

As for the projects carried over: There are many that are being maintained professionally and there are a few others that should do better.

And with luck, this will happen in 2025. So, for the time being, I am giving the "benefit of the doubt" to those projects that have failed to generate sufficient tasks over the last 12 months - which mainly applies to DENIS, iThena.Computational, TN-Grid and Universe@home.

But if it looks like the project has died (or is about to), then the project will be deleted.

Universe has been declared ended, funding ended in August. ( https://universeathome.pl/universe/foru ... ostid=6503 )

SPT could be included for marathons only, its been pretty solid most of the year but may be a bit weak for sprints.

Sidock has been ARM only for a while which makes it a bit unfair (there is a way for Intel/AMD but its complex)

WCG has been up and down most of the year.

Rosetta is intermittent.

CPDN is intermittent

I don't see a problem with intermittent projects (WCG, Denis, TN-Grid, Ithena-comp, CPDN, Rosetta) on marathons, its the same for everybody.

re: Universe

I edited your post to include a link to the Universe messageboard about the ending of the funding, plus the sad loss of Prof. Krzysztof Belczynski, so, I do hope another party might fund or at least re-start the project at some time in the future, even if it looks unlikely. So, I'll delete it for now (as it can be added at another time).

re: SiDock

Sprint #23 featured SiDock and I know I completed some Windows/x86 tasks, so I am sure it has tasks for non-ARM hardware.

re: CPDN

I don't run CPDN tasks anymore as my own hosts took a long time to complete even one, although they could earn some "trickle-up" credits. But even if this project was added as a Marathon project, I am not sure it would be entirely suitable, just due to the time required to complete a task?

re: SPT

I will look into adding SPT, (although I see (edit) thought that it might now be called ODLK2025?), and it seems it is another project proposed by Natalia Makarova. However, it seems that it may use quite limited hardware and so it might not be suitable even as a Marathon project?

re: Other projects

The rest are only suitable as Marathon projects, unless they increase the number and availability of tasks. So, I will try and monitor this and for now, most of these projects will not be selectable for Sprints.

Sidock was long tasks for x86 and short tasks for ARM. They have run out of long tasks (sub-project completed I think) and while they are open to x86 short tasks there is no forecast when and refuse to commit to them. If x86 short tasks did happen they do not believe there would be sufficient tasks for the demand.

SPT and ODLK2025 are separate projects. A lot of confusion as the SPT project originator tried to stop the project but as she had no control over the project work servers she couldn't stop it and others wanted it to continue so have maintained it. SPT servers are slow but usually solid, ODLK2025 is still pretty shaky but should be good eventually. How the politics between the two will progress is anyone's guess, I think both will continue.

CPDN, yes, sorry, I had it running so assumed it was in FB. I did quite like having one thread running, the project options are very flexible but I can understand the hesitancy in adopting it due to poor work availability and very long tasks.

CPDN gives interim credits, even if the task has not yet been fully calculated. Shouldn't be a problem for the marathon. The long running times speak against the sprint, but otherwise, why not as a marathon

Thanks for the feedback. As mentioned earlier in this thread, I am aware that CPDN tasks earn "trickle-up" credits during the processing of each work unit. And yes, CPDN would NOT be suitable for a Sprint (as previously stated) !

From what I have seen, SPT has not had any tasks since the middle of October (2024) and as it is still a "test" project, it might not be a good idea to include it, until maybe it has more tasks available and on a regular basis?

Grafana looks like it has a problem with SPT, it has had tasks available every time I checked in, it has plenty of tasks now and had plenty of tasks on 1st January which didn't appear on Grafana but are on Free-DC and BG.
