Team Leagues for 2024

Hi all

I have been able to set up the Leagues for 2024 which will feature the following 26 teams (carried over from the 2023 season), based on the total FB points scored as shown below and relevant as of today (and which I doubt will change much in the next 2 weeks but if they do, then I will amend the League accordingly 8-) ).

Code: Select all

9 teams in League 1
*1 The Scottish Boinc Team 958
*2 Planet 3DNow! 809
*3 L'Alliance Francophone 491
*4 SETI.USA 444
*5 Rechenkraft.net 420
*6 BOINC@AUSTRALIA 329
*7 SETI.Germany 316
*8 Ukraine 298
*9 Republic Czech National Team	274

9 teams in League 2
*10 BOINC.Italy 178
*11 Russia Team 142
*12 UK BOINC Team 139
*13 LITOMYSL Boinc Team Czech Republic	107
*14 AMD Users 101
*15 H.P.C.N.Swiss 80
*16 Crunching@EVGA 60
*17 TSC! Russia 57
*18 meisterkuehler.de Team 50

8 teams in League 3
*19 Canada 44
*20 The IT Team 33
*21 Crystal Dream 31
*22 Keep The Fire Alive! 25
*23 Hardware Canucks 17
*24 BOINC Synergy 12
*25 BOINC.BE 8
*26 The Final Front Ear 7
This now means that EVERY team will score FB points as the Formula One scoring system gives points for the first 10 positions and with 9 teams in Leagues 1 and 2 and 8 in League 3, *every* team can earn FB points during both the Marathon and Sprint events.

If any NEW teams want to apply then they will go into League 3.

It also means that if the Sprints go ahead, then each League could be "Sprinting" on *different* projects, which should then reduce the pressure and upload/download bandwidth demands on projects to be able to supply enough tasks for all 26 teams.

It might also be possible to perform promotions and/or relegations from each league during the season - maybe at the mid-season break? However the website did not allow this in 2023 so it remains to be seen if it is possible for 2024.

regards
Tim

Hi Tim,

will you make some more leagues for members? Based on recent activities, two of them could be enough. Unless you want to exclude 'fighting for points' fun from that contest too :D

Anyway, the next season promises to be even more dynamic and fun. Promotions and relegations are also an exciting feature but should be done between seasons, I think. If we could get more new teams then the scheme '1-out 2-in' could be implemented to have 10 teams in top leagues for 2025.

Looking forward for the next year challenges ;)

Best wishes!

P.S. In the mean time I will continue to supply Ukrainian Army and refugees with laptops and computers and to use BOINC for testing them.

Hi

Thanks for your input.

I am actually limited by what Sebastien has already programmed and coded the website to do, so I have no control over adding or removing any of the existing structure.

For the 2023 season, there was a function to promote or relegate teams between leagues...but it did not work and I was unable to contact Sebastien to get him to fix this.

But for 2024, the coding does work, and hence I made the changes as shown in the original post above. But whether teams can be promoted/relegated DURING the season remains to be seen.

And it would certainly be good to have greater dynamic movement between the leagues, depending on the support each team gave (or did not give).

Well done for supporting the brave Ukrainians against the orcs ! It worries me so much about the slow reduction in aid being supplied to Ukraine, especially from US Republicans and from Hungary veto-ing the EU support. Russia needs to be held to account for invading a sovereign country and killing their civilians. And yes the same can be said for the Israel/Hamas situation in Gaza !

Sadly, some "so called leaders" are unwilling to compromise and make peaceful negotiations and instead they just want to spread destruction and death to others.
