Today with one RTX3060, one GTX 1660, onz Ryzen 5 2020 and one Ryzen 3 2018, I can win in Division 3 and be in the top 10 of Division 2. The current formula lacks interest and fun for the intermediate teams . The SG Pentathlon with several varied classifications is more popular.

FB is about teams though. L'Alliance Francophone were first or second for the first seven years of the tournament so did they get weaker or did other teams get stronger?

Hence my suggestion that Leagues 2 and 3 get a different Sprint project to make it easier to get work. The current points allocation also does a great deal to discourage teams.

I agree, it is the best fortnight of the Boinc year. Utmost respect to SG for the HUGE effort they put into it. Last year, I asked Patrick if they would consider running it twice per year but sadly he declined.
New formats will mean a lot of software development effort for someone. My suggestions are offered as I believe they would be reasonably easy for Seb to implement - he too has already expended huge efforts I am quite sure

FB participation is not a topic for Division 1 Top 10 teams. Rather, change is about motivating others.
A suggestion ... We practice this in my company with respect to customers ...
Why not send a satisfaction survey to the teams currently participating in the FB.
Something simple:
Your Satisfaction with Formula FB 2021: 0 to 10
Would you like to participate in FB 2022? Yes / No / I don't know
If No or I don't know? Why ?

Jeez Cougarpelardou, before stating that you could win league 3 all by yourself, maybe you can think back to a reason that Anguillian Pirates stopped competing in league 3 ? Maybe that even stopped some other small teams from bothering to take part ?

I fully agree with you. It is not with two GPU ands two CPU, that an only one cruncher can be the first in one league !
Anguillan, you know me very good. I know your power (unless, you lost your monstruous cruncher)
In fact, if your team is only on second place league 3, it show, you are very quiet to compare with two years ago.
If I compare your actual CR in league 3, and compare with my team, we would be the first (almost on each PRJ)
And this with very little anount of cruncher, and mid range config.
I know your team is able to be in top 10 league 1 !
By the way, "Cougarperdou" is unknown on BoincStats !
Best regards.

The first in league 3 ???
Top 10 league 2 ???
You think with only two GPU and two host, you will be able ? Please wake up !
By the way, you are fully unknown on BoincStats !!!

My suggestions would be to abandon trying to copy the Formula 1 race schedule. It's a cool idea and everything, but it forces sprints to be scheduled when you wouldn't necessarily want them to be if you were planning a competition. Most of my other thoughts were somewhat covered by others, but I figure I'll mention them anyways.
DavidBam's suggestions are all solid, I don't see any major issues there.
Getting rid of teams that don't plan on competing would be good(but make it easy for them to rejoin the following year). Even if there were only 10-20 teams left afterward, they would be active teams and it would make it a lot easier to define the leagues. Once that is done, reorganize the leagues a bit - there is a massive disparity in computing power between say TSBT and BOINC.BE, they should not be in the same league.
This would require some manual effort, but I think more awards should be given than just gold, silver, bronze for each league. Stuff like "biggest surprise comeback" of the year, "best bunker drop", "biggest improvement since last year" etc. These could be either team based or individual based.
Having somebody act as a 'sports commentator' would really go a long way, similar to Jeeper's reports at SG during the pentathlon. Other than us occasionally going to each other's forums there's not a whole lot of interaction or commentary as the sprints happen. Could a shoutbox be added to the main page?
Tracking individual stats would be great. It would be nice to see where you stack up individually for the year against others vs just the team stats. This is where the 'sports commentator' could step in with shout outs and stuff too. "Woah did you guys see that huge bunker drop from DavidBAM to setup TSBT for the lead!" type stuff would be sure to help drum up interest from individual crunchers when they see their name mentioned.
Lastly, and I'm not being negative on this one it just is what it is, but when the site has technical issues as a sprint starts it's very disheartening for crunchers. I'm not sure what the cause is or if there's a fix for the 'mod python error' stuff that happens, but if there is, it would be ideal to not have that happen moving forward.

I agree strongly with you IceCold. In Tour de France there several rankings : INDIVIDUAL, POINTS, CLIMBER, YOUTH, TEAM, COMBATIVE. I think too that more rankings and awards is very important.

I don't think every team is out to participate in just the Sprints. I would not compare the status of teams just based off Sprint results alone. In ANY league.
Some teams can take podium in league 2 Sprint even w/o 'participating' in the Sprint because that is how they normally participate. In other Sprints they don't 'participate' at all as it might be a main goal of their team.
Are there teams that don't check stats or participate in any form? That's a good possibility. I'd start at purging idle teams, and thus rearranging # of teams in each league, before making new leagues/splitting projects between leagues/making this a Tour de France event.
If this isn't modeled off F1 schedule/credit then the name of the event is pointless. There's a Sprint this weekend. I'm not going to be around. So what. I'm gonna take a stab and guess at some projects. It is what it is and part of the Strategy.
