End of Month 1 report

Post by UBT - Timbo »

Hi all

So, January is now over and we're into Month 2.

So, far, we have 44 members who've registered here for the "Members" league and I'm pleased to report that 39 members have actually earned some FB points :-) So well done to all those who have got involved.

https://formula-boinc.org/index_v3.py?l ... s-member-1

Teams-wise, we now have 24 teams registered, and all seem to have earned some FB points due to their crunching:

https://formula-boinc.org/index_v3.py?l ... 023#tabs-1

One would hope that other teams will join, so that we can split the teams into two (or more) leagues, before the first Sprint starts on 2nd March 2023.

Maybe some forum members might want to contact their team founders and ask them to join up?

regards
Tim

Thank you for the work you are doing in keeping this competition running. I think this competition would be even more interesting if more of the ongoing projects would be updating more often, ie: Dennis, LHC@home and ODLK1.
Thanks.

Am I to assume that updates will be only once a month in several projects?

Hi

Thanks for your comments - much appreciated :-)

This website and this forum has NO control over the projects or when/how they "update"...so, it is important that the projects themselves make tasks available to the internet, as this will generate interest from BOINC members who want to donate their CPU/GPU hardware to help them.

All we can do is to allow BOINC Manager to always be set to "allow new work" on those projects that each member wants to help. And then our host machines should then receive new tasks when they become available.

Hi

I made the previous post so that anyone browsing the forum can see the level of interest in the FB Championship for this year.

I will do the same at the end of February, and then after that, the Sprints will be starting so it will be obvious what contributions are being made by each team and each member. After which, I think there will be less need for "end of month" reports.

Hi

re: The above possible "error"

I think it would be best if you sent a PM to Sebastien about this as he is in control of the gathering of the statistics.

I do not know where you have sourced your figures from - can you provide a link to these please?

I can only assume that perhaps the reason why your stats on the FB page are lower is that it depends on the date when you registered as an individual member for the "Members league" (and not when you first registered for the project).

So if you registered your CPID on FB some time after 1st January so Sebastien can only take the credit starting figure as from the actual date when your 2023 credits were first "collected" AFTER you registered.
