It would be interesting to see a similar graph for all the Russia-based projects to see if they have been affected by the community's feelings.
Hi
I got the previous graph from the BOINCstats website.
They do not produce a chart that shows exactly the situation, but these two shows some changes:
1) Russian Federation member credits over the last 60 days - notice the drop off (since 14th March 2022)on the right hand side. (I have no idea why there was a huge spike on 26th Feb 2022 ).

2) Ukraine total credits over the last 60 days - massive increase since 27th Feb 2022 !!

3) Ukraine total credits change in recent months/years - notice the spikes in 2014 (when Russia invaded Crimea) and most recently.

Nothing against the scientists in the Open Letter, but since these are pretty much all math projects I will not support them in the near future. If they a re based in Russia then the Kremlin and State supported groups can have access to all the data and findings. Being math projects the results of our work can possibly be used for decryption, hacking, etc against others by the Kremlin to do harm and cause catastrophic events if successful.
Branch - BOINC-project ODLK1 is located in Italy.
This project will be five years old in November.
The project is working!
The results of the project are published here https://boinc.multi-pool.info/latinsqua ... d=163#3495
I am grateful to everyone involved in these projects.
The authors of the projects are not to blame for the disgraceful war unleashed in Ukraine!
We, the authors of the projects, cannot change anything.
I perceive the war as a personal tragedy. I am hurt and ashamed.
But Russia is my Motherland.
I cannot hate my Motherland and its people!
Thanks Natalia.
Personally I haven't stopped crunching Russian projects.
I appreciate that you and many other Russians oppose this appalling war against Ukraine & I applaud your courage in speaking out.
I imagine that Putin knows nothing of Boinc and wouldn't be much concerned if he did.
Thanks for your input about the ODLK and ODLK1 projects.
To put FB members concerns at rest, can you confirm:
1) Whether ANY results from either of these projects will EVER be made available to the Russian Government or any of it's departments?
2) Whether either project is funded by the Russian Government and/or any of their departments, either directly, or indirectly?
This might then help FB members decide if they want to support any involvement between these projects and with Putin (and his political/military accomplices) with regards to their unjustified war against Ukraine.
And I know that, in general, most Russian scientists and researchers are against the war...but perhaps the project themselves need to make their positions clear about where the data is used? (and without "upsetting" the Russian police?)
PS: If you do not wish to answer in public here, this is OK - send me a PM, if it helps - as I am not trying to undermine the projects, but volunteers do need to know where the "results" of completed tasks are going to be used and by whom.

No.

No.
This is just my personal project.
I have been retired for a long time and am not associated with any institutions and organizations.
I initiated the ODLK and ODLK1 projects, Progger helped bring it to BOINC.
The servers of the ODLK and ODLK1 projects are personal servers of Progger (Russia) and Stefano Tognon (Italy).
I would hope that this is enough to reassure any FB members that these two projects are beyond "Russian Govt" control and should therefore continue to attract volunteers to crunch the tasks made available.
